Dennis L.
In the 7 years since my stem cell transplant, I've walked both of our daughters down the aisle and saw our son graduate from college. In the last 2 years, our daughters have brought 3 beautiful, happy, healthy grandchildren into this world. GVHD is very minor compared to all of that. I am very grateful for the Memorial Sloane Kettering people who have helped me along the way!
Tell us how GVHD is affecting your life.
My skin is very tight, I do PT exercises daily, and have been taking a new drug (Axitilimab) for over 3 years. Axitilimab is now FDA-approved, which makes it easier for me to get my infusions every 2 weeks at a Memorial Sloan Kettering facility near my home in NJ.
My eyes are very dry, but I have a great eye doctor in Manhattan who has helped tremendously. I have had the upper and lower drains in each eye closed to keep moisture in the eyes and I use eye drops daily.
What is your message of hope? What inspires you to continue the fight against GVHD?
