Transplant does not take away a woman’s sexuality but it can cause sexual difficulties after transplant. There are a variety of effective treatments. Good communication between partners is one important ingredient in resolving sexual difficulties after transplant.
After a pediatric bone marrow transplant, patients are at risk of developing new transplant-related health problems. These problems may not appear until later in life. This presentation discusses the potential complications, available treatments, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle ongoing monitoring to detect health issues early, when treatment is most effective.

Patients who have had a stem cell transplant have a higher risk of developing a second cancer than the general population. The risk of developing a second cancers increases over time. Life-long surveillance and testing is important to catch any second cancer early, when treatment is most effective.
Half of patients who have a stem cell transplant using donor cells (an allogeneic transplant) develop chronic graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD). In up to a third of those patients, GVHD affects the mouth, esophagus, stomach and/or GI tract. GVHD can also affect the liver and/or pancreas. This presentation describes the symptoms and treatment options for GI and liver GVHD.
Caregivers for stem cell transplant recipients deal with a lot of responsibility and uncertainty. Many find their role very stressful and burnout is common.
