Background: DR. Iuorno is the the former program director of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) residency program, where he was exposed to the patients and services offered at VCU bone marrow transplant clinic. This, in combination with close personal experiences with family and friends affected by blood disorders, fostered a strong affinity for patients suffering from ocular graft versus host disease (OGVHD). He has seen all types of effects of ocular GVHD, including ocular perforations and persistent chronic ocular GVHD resistant to conventional treatments.
