Background: Dr. Shekar provides care to medically complex patients, including the diagnosis and management of oral mucosal abnormalities (growths, ulcers, infection, and Immune-mediated disorders); oral complications from cancer treatment (mucositis, graft-versus-host disease, jaw osteonecrosis); orofacial pain; salivary gland disorders; and neurologic and chemosensory impairment with an emphasis on patient education, motivation, and person-centered care.
