Background: Dr. McConnachie is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at VCU Health System. She has spent many years helping patients and their family members cope with the stress of chronic illness. She has both personal and professional experience working with transplant patients. Her husband had a bone marrow transplant for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Dr. McConnachie is familiar with all phases of the transplant process from diagnosis through long-term survivorship. She has worked with patients and family members who are dealing with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), secondary cancers, relapse, end of life issues and grief and bereavement. She does not have experience working with patients who have had CAR T-cell therapy.
